I am a supporter of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) and Jay Sekulow sent this email out recently:
It’s a case that could devastate religious freedom in the military.
A Marine was ordered to remove a Bible verse from her desk because her commanding officer “didn’t like their tone.”
The officer forcibly removed the verse, cursed at the Bible (with profanity I won’t repeat), and had her court martialed.
The verse? “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17)
Unbelievably, a military court held that this verse was based on “subjective beliefs” and not “part of a religious belief system.”
That’s right; the Bible isn’t part of being a Christian.
This is intolerable. If it stands, this ruling could eviscerate religious freedom in the military.
We’re aggressively fighting back. In just days, we’re planning to file a critical brief representing key Members of Congress to reverse this ruling.
Will you defend the religious freedom of those who defend our liberty?
